Analysis of Metal Contact Rust Treatment Methods
Metal contact rust is one of the common failures in Washing Machine connectors, mainly caused by humid environments or long-term oxidation. When treating this issue, first disconnect the power supply. Use a cotton swab soaked in anhydrous alcohol or a specialized electronic cleaner to gently wipe the contact surface in one direction to avoid repeated rubbing that could strip the plating. If the rust is severe, a precision rust removal pen or sandpaper with a grit of 600 or higher can be used for light polishing. After cleaning, apply conductive paste to restore contact performance. For snap-fit connectors, it is recommended to also check whether any oxides remain inside the slot and use an air blower to clean any gaps if necessary. Special attention must be paid to avoid using acidic solvents or hard tools such as steel wool, as they may accelerate metal corrosion or damage the insulation layer. For areas that frequently come into contact with water (such as the water level sensor interface), regular application of anti-rust spray and installation of waterproof rubber covers is recommended to extend the lifespan of the contacts.
