Microwave Oven Connector Aging Diagnosis and Repair

Determining whether a Microwave Oven connector has aged requires evaluation from both physical condition and electrical performance perspectives. First, inspect the connector’s surface for signs of oxidation, cracks, or discoloration—especially on the metal contacts of high-voltage connectors, where blackening or corrosion marks usually indicate oxidation and reduced conductivity. Next, use a multimeter to measure the connector’s contact resistance; if the value exceeds the manufacturer’s specified range (typically ≤0.1 Ω), this suggests poor contact or internal structural degradation. For components that frequently exhibit sparking or abnormal heating, pay special attention to whether the insulation layer has carbonized or become brittle.

Repair strategies should be applied according to the degree of aging: slight oxidation can be addressed by polishing the contacts with fine sandpaper and applying conductive paste to restore performance; localized insulation damage can be temporarily repaired with high-temperature-resistant insulating tape, ensuring that the post-repair withstand voltage is no less than 80% of the original design standard (typically ≥4 kV). If the connector body has structural deformation or fails to operate reliably after more than three repairs, it must be replaced with a component of the same specifications and model. It is particularly important to re-test the microwave leakage after repair to ensure compliance with the GB 4706.21 safety limit of ≤5 mW/cm².
